Realm Fire & Security is accredited by many different independent third party organisations and associations whose added remit is to set, and ensure compliance with, quality standards within the Fire & Security industry. The following is a list of just some of the main organisations and associations that Realm Fire & Security is accredited by, including The Fire Industry Association. BAFE

BAFE is the independent organisation dedicated to improving standards in fire protection. It is also the not for profit registration body for Companies throughout the UK that achieve third party certification for their fire protection services. Organisations that are registered to BAFE schemes demonstrate a commitment to service excellence. If you require fire protection services for your premises then you need BAFE to be sure that the companies that provide them meet all the appropriate standards and are independently audited. BAFE third party certificated schemes are a recognised measure of the quality required to provide fire protection services. BAFE develops Third Party certification with all the interested parties and works with UKAS accredited Certification Bodies to assess and approve companies to these standards.


Sp101/ST104 covering Contract Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers and Registered Fire Extinguisher Service Technicians Scheme. This BAFE scheme enables organisations requiring fire extinguisher maintenance to easily meet the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, by employing a third party approved organisation and service personnel with proven competency in fire extinguisher service and maintenance.


SP203-1 Modular Scheme for Fire Detection & Alarm System. This BAFE scheme has been developed for the Third Party Certification of those organisations involved in fire detection and fire alarm systems. The scheme recognises the importance of providing compliant systems while at the same time minimising false alarms.

SELECT

SELECT influences technical standards in the areas of BS 7671, IEE Wiring Regulations and other British Standards Committees, dealing with technological areas of Members’ work. SELECT works closely with local government, the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, UK Government and European Union to promote issues of importance to SELECT and to provide authoritative input on behalf of the industry.

NAFDI

NAFDI (the National Association of Fire Door Inspectors) is dedicated to its members and public for the protection of life and property nationwide. Their aim to promote continuous improvement to the fire door inspection standards. Today’s public is demanding evidence of competency and quality from professionals within the fire industry. Their aim is to simplify the search for Accredited Fire Door Inspectors nationwide, provide NAFDI certificated inspections for clients and to ensure the level of competency from our members. NAFDI Certification is an important credential that can help businesses to meet this need. Membership is available to eligible companies, individuals and organisations that conduct fire door inspections and Realm Fire & Security is delighted to have been awarded this accreditation (September 2017).

SSAIB

SSAIB (Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board) only certificate companies that can demonstrate technical and managerial competence through an inspection of the processes and procedures they operate. SSAIB certification means that you can be confident in the quality of service provided to protect your business from the potentially devastating consequences of fire or a major security breach. Increasingly insurers require evidence that all reasonable steps have been taken to mitigate risk and ensure the safety of personnel and assets within the workplace. SSAIB certificated providers will help you to meet your insurer’s requirements

BSI

BSI works with business experts, government bodies, trade associations and consumer groups internationally in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. BSI helps their members to capture best practice and structure the knowledge they need to succeed. BSI have themselves been accredited by national accreditation bodies, such as UKAS and ANAB, across the world and assessed against the highest levels of quality and service. The regular assessment process improves staff responsibility, commitment and motivation.

IFE

The IFE, also known as the Institution of Fire Engineers, is recognised by Ofqual as an awarding organisation and delivers over 7,300 examinations each year. Under its Engineering Council licence, the IFE is authorised to assess individuals to become Chartered Engineers (Ceng), Incorporated Engineers (Ieng), and Engineering Technicians (Eng Tech). In addition, the IFE offers registration of Fire Risk Assessors and Fire Risk Auditors, helping businesses ensure that their choice of consultant is a good one. In this potential minefield, The Institution of Fire Engineers has created a Register of Fire Risk Assessors. It is for the IFE, as the leading professional body in the field of fire, to take this initiative to ensure that anyone having need of the services of a fire risk assessor can refer to the Register and thereby verify the credentials of their chosen of assessor.

BSI KITEMARK

The KITEMARK symbolises quality and safety not just to the general public but also to businesses. A registered certification mark owned and awarded by BSI, the KITEMARK was originally developed by the British Standards Institution. The first product and service quality mark to be established in the UK, the KITEMARK reassures consumers that vital safety and performance requirements have been met on an incredibly wide range of products and services.

CONSTRUCTIONLINE

CONSTRUCTIONLINE is the UK’s largest Government-owned register of contractors and consultants for the construction industry. CONSTRUCTIONLINE is endorsed by the Office of Government Commerce, the Welsh Assembly, the Northern Ireland Executive and the Scottish Executive and are aligned with industry standards and new regulations. Realm has been a member since 2005.

FPA

The FPA, also known as the Fire Protection Association, is the UK’s national fire safety organisation. It promotes fire safety within industry, commerce and the wider public. Realm has been a member since 2002.

FIA

The FIA, also known as the Fire Industry Association, is a not-for-profit trade association with the aim of promoting the professional status of the UK fire safety industry verifying competency of our fire engineers and training courses.

SAFECONTRACTOR

SAFECONTRACTOR is a leading third party accreditation scheme that assesses the health and safety competency of contractors and service providers, with more than 170 clients and over 18,000 contractor members. SAFECONTRACTOR provides evidence that they are exceeding their relevant legal requirements, increased confidence in the health and safety competence of external contractors and service providers.

Reset

Reset Certification Scheme is a competence-verification scheme accredits third-party contractors onto any site, ensuring compliance with HSE and CDM obligations.

FIRE KILLS CAMPAIGN

Realm Fire & Security are participants in the long running successful Fire Kills Campaign organised by the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service.
