Fire safety training reduces the likelihood of a fire in the workplace and ensures that, should the worst happen, your staff are able to respond to an emergency in the most appropriate way to minimise the risk to life.

Ensuring that your employees are properly trained by a competent fire safety expert is also an effective way to ensure that you have met your legal obligations as the ‘Duty Holder’ under current Fire Regulations, which should take into account any changes to shift patterns and working arrangement that you have had to make in line with government COVID guidelines.

Our portfolio of training courses ensure that your designated fire wardens know exactly what to do when the alarm sounds, that an appropriate number of your team are confident using fire extinguishers, and that people across your business are aware of fire safety procedures, protecting the lives of your team and your business.

Realm Fire & Security

At Realm Fire & Security, we have a team of highly experienced fire trainers, many of whom have previously worked in the fire service. They deliver the following courses:

  • Fire Warden Training
  • Fire Awareness Training
  • Practical Use of Fire Extinguishers Training

We believe that each course should be covered by your employees to ensure that you are properly educated, practically trained, and risk aware.

Fire Warden Training

Fire Warden Training - Realm Fire & Security

Who this is for: People who have been nominated as a Fire Warden.
Length: 2.5 hours
Aim: to ensure they fully understand their duties as a fire warden, all aspects of fire safety in their organisation, and the key steps in dealing with a suspected fire.

This is our most in-depth fire training course, designed for people who are taking on extra duties to protect people during a suspected fire. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have enough competent people in your business that can implement fire safety procedures, and that training is renewed regularly; usually every two years.

This course teaches fire wardens the key steps they should take when the fire alarm sounds, including how to coordinate an evacuation.

The course also includes the Fire Extinguisher course below, which includes practical experience in the use of extinguishers on a live controlled fire.

Fire Awareness Training

Fire Extinguisher Training - Realm Fire & Security

Who this is for: All employees.
Length: 2 hours
Aim: To provide your team with the knowledge and practical insights to make your business safer.

This course provides your team with the knowledge to prevent and deal with fires in the safest way possible. It is an introductory course, providing expert advice and insights from our experienced team although it doesn’t contain the more in-depth details that the other courses include. We would strongly recommend as many people attend as possible, up to 12, so that you benefit from this additional fire awareness among your employees.

Practical use of fire extinguishers training

Fire Extinguisher training - Real Fire & Security

Who this is for: Anyone who needs to know how to use a fire extinguisher.
Length: 2 hours
Aim: To educate and train nominated staff in the use of fire extinguishers

This course is not just intended for dedicated fire wardens; we would recommend a wider group of nominated staff to attend to ensure adequate coverage across your business. We view this as essential for any employee who is likely to be first on the scene in the event of a fire and may need to use portable fire-fighting equipment in order to safely evacuate the premises, with a special consideration given to supervisors, lone workers, or those working in more sparsely manned areas of the business.

It includes a good combination of practice and theory; learning about the different types of extinguishers, and also how to use extinguishers on a live fire.
