Replacing an old and failing system to a deadline

Fire Alarm Installation
Kirkwood Commercial

Initial Requirements

When Kirkwood Commercial’s 20 year old Fire Alarm Control Panel began showing false activations it was a sign of a failing system. The company asked Realm Fire & Security to carry out the job of replacing the system, as Realm maintained the system as well.

Realm fitted a new Fire Class System based on the original design specification and the then current version of BS5839, which provided the customer with a fully operational system. ‘Fire Class’ was selected as it allowed for a far quicker and more cost effective route in presenting the customer with a fully working Fire Alarm System as we were able to re-use cables and the bases for devices.

Old and New Security System

Realm’s Process

We made sure that the process of getting the new system set up was quick and efficient. As ever, Realm selected the most cost-effective method and ordered the kit promptly. Even though time was needed to fix some unexpected discrepancies in the process, the operational team kept to the deadline and delivered a fully functioning system.

 Going the extra mile

Kirkwood Commercial requested to have Daniel Pearson, on-site to install the system, so when the time came for this job we made sure that Daniel was available to carry out the work.

During the installation of the new system Realm provided air horns to be used as a means of raising an alarm should there be a genuine activation.

Realm also offered to create digital copies of the customers paper based site drawings which the customer has now accepted.

Final Result

Realm took the customer’s needs very seriously and worked to ensure they were fully satisfied. Kirkwood Commercial were completely happy with the final product, and its operation.

If you have any security requirements, perhaps an older system showing signs of failing, please make sure to get in touch with Realm – we’re always happy to help!
